Some specialists on Yada carry a Verified badge on their profile and on every offer they send. It means a person on our team has seen the documents behind the business, not just the details typed into a profile.

What we check
Before a badge is granted, a person on our team reads every document. Nothing is automated, and nothing is taken on trust.

Identity
The person behind the business, against government-issued photo ID

Registration
NZBN and company details, against the Companies Office

Trade licences
EWRB, LBP, Plumbers Board and similar, where the trade needs one

Insurance
A current public liability insurance certificate

Contact details
Phone, email and service areas are real and reachable
It is a check on who they are, not a review of their work. Ratings and reviews tell you that. Yada still only connects: the specialist does the work and is responsible for it, verified or not. Badges last twelve months, then the checks are done again.
If a specialist is not verified
UnverifiedIt means they have not applied, or their application is still going through. Nothing more. Verification is optional and paid, and plenty of good sole traders have never bothered with it. They can still send you offers.
What it does mean is that nobody has checked their paperwork for you. Before you agree to anything, it is fair to ask for it yourself:
- Their licence or registration number, if the job needs one
- Proof of public liability insurance
- A written quote with the scope and the price on it
- References or photos from similar jobs they have done
Keep the arrangements in the Yada chat either way. Verified or not, that is your record.
Get verified
Verified businesses are listed first, can respond to up to 25 jobs a day instead of 3, carry the badge on every offer and on their profile, and clients see no "this specialist is not verified" warning before they connect. It is optional - without it you can still send offers and take work.

You attach your documents, accept the terms and pay the assessment fee.

Stripe confirms the payment and your application joins the review queue.

We check your documents
Our team works through the checklist. This usually takes 2-3 business days.

Decision
Approved, or we come back to you for anything missing - that part costs nothing.

Badge live for 12 months
Your Verified badge shows on your profile and every offer you send.
The fee pays for the assessment, so approval is not guaranteed and it is not refunded if we cannot approve you. If something is missing we ask you to fix it first, at no extra cost.
